GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the general supervision of the Senior Grantswriter, the purpose of the position is to develop and coordinate applications for program funding to assist and enhance efforts of department directors and program managers, as requested or needed in meeting Tribal goals and objectives.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Creates reviews and/or edits letters of intent, applications, and proposals submitted to governmental agencies, national institutes, foundations and corporations, ensuring that complete, accurate and high quality applications are submitted by departments and programs of the Tribe per established Tribal procedures. Searches and reviews new and recurring grant/funding opportunity notices, instructions, and forms, and organizes, summarizes and distributes information concerning said grant/funding opportunities while taking into consideration the Tribe’s Strategic Plan and defined organizational, departmental, and program priorities. Assists program staff to develop logic models that address goals, objectives, activities, timelines, and outcomes for a specific project. Acts as the discussion leader, organizes meetings, and utilizes available data and research that support the project need and the proposed methods to meet that need. Works with others in preparing a narrative justification for budgetary expenditures per individual grant applications. Provides technical assistance to department directors and program managers on report writing, data collections, analysis and research, and in such other areas germane to effective grantsmanship. Establishes and/or maintains records and files of work and revisions utilizing a variety of manual logs, electronic databases and calendaring programs. Assists in preparation of monthly and annual reports. Attends Legislature meetings, Legislature committee meetings, directors meetings, and such other meetings as may be required from time-to-time. Attends training as required or directed, which may include infrequent overnight travel. Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Candidates interested in this position shall possess all of the following • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; • A minimum of three years documented and recent (i.e. within the past seven years) experience working in a position whose primary duties and responsibilities was grant writing or technical writing and/or managing a grant funded program such as a Grant Administrator or Program Manager; • Excellent research and analytical skills (e.g. capable of reviewing requests for proposals, statutes, regulations, etc., and determining eligibility based on said review); • Excellent writing skills with demonstrated skills in composing, editing, and proofreading professional documents (which will be assessed at the time of interview) Candidates who cannot demonstrate all of the above in their application and resume will be screened out and not provided an interview. Candidates must provide a copy of their college certificate or transcripts at the time of application. If invited for an interview, candidates will be requested to submit writing examples for the interview as well as completing an extemporaneous writing assignment immediately following the interview. Candidates must provide an official copy of their transcripts at the time of their interview.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates selected for hire will be subject to a drug test and employment will be contingent on results of said test. Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license, a reliable vehicle with required minimum liability insurance. Must be willing to work longer hours to meet grant deadlines.

Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; ability to calculate decimals and percentages; may include ability to perform mathematical operations with fractions; may include ability to compute discount, interest, profit and loss, ratio and proportion; may include ability to calculate surface areas, volumes, weights and measures.
Functional Aptitude:
Requires ability to apply principles of rational systems. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or scheduled form. Ability to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives.
Situational Reasoning:
Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.
