Department Overview The Menominee Business Center, sponsored by the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, is an integral part of a comprehensive economic development plan for the Reservation/County. Its concept of developing local, homegrown businesses complements the Tribe’s efforts to encourage development and location of existing companies and corporations within the area. Originally funded by a FHA- Rural Development grant and matched by the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, the 2,400 square feet incubator project building was built in 1996 located next to the Keshena library. The Business Center has worked with the following agencies throughout the past years, the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, USDA-Rural Development, HUD - Indian Community Development Block Grant and the North woods NiiJii Enterprise Community. This partnerships are prime examples of how community based organizations and state government can work together to meet the needs of our communities. The building has nine rentable office suites. The following are current tenants at the Business center: a Vending machine business, Wolf River Insurance Agents, a technical service provider - ANA Business Specialist, and a VISTA worker, both in cooperation with Northwoods Niijii Enterprise Community, Inc.
