menominee indian tribe of wisconsin youth development & outreach - balanced justice
The focus of the program is Restorative Justice, which is offering youth who commit crimes/offenses a chance to repair the harm they have done and offer a form of symbolic healing within our community. Currently, youth who commit crimes/offenses do not have the opportunity to understand and feel how their crime has hurt others or the community as a whole; so instead of focusing on the punitive sanctions we will support youth with opportunities to make right the wrongs they have done by committing crimes/offenses.

Youth who have committed a crime/offense (deemed appropriate to be handled within the Teen Court setting); and are first time offenders or participants through the Teen Court; will work with the Restorative Justice Coordinator in an effort to promote creative sentencing options, accountability, community service, correct injustices and ultimately establish a sense of belonging, develop competencies for their future choices and decisions within our community.
