Mission Statement
The mission of the Menominee Nation and the Menominee Tribal Housing Department, is to develop, operate and maintain affordable housing activities. These activities will be solely for the purpose of providing decent, safe and sanitary housing and support services for families of the Menominee Tribe in a manner that promotes serviceability, economy and social well being of the Menominee Indian People.

Department Overview
Welcome to the Menominee Housing Department's Home Page. The Housing Department has a staff of forty (40) personnel who provide housing services to the community through eighteen (18) major components and/or programs.

The "service area" for HUD funded housing initiatives and programs is defined in the tribes Indian Housing Plan (IHP) as within a fifty (50) mile radius of Keshena, Wisconsin.

The Menominee Tribal Housing Department is a Department set up under the auspices of the Tribal Government. The Director reports directly to the Tribal Administrator and also reports regularly (once a month) to the Legislative Committee on Housing, which is chaired by Lisa Waukau.

The Administration element of the Housing Department is made up of the Director, Programs Manager, and Executive Secretary. Together they provide the overall management and guidance for the day-to-day and long term operations of the Housing Department.

The Financial Supervisor, an assistant, and a collections clerk run the Housing Department's Finance office. Our loan programs also fall under the Finance Section; information can be found in more detail by following the above link or following link, Ownership & Loans.

The Administrative Support Division office is responsible for monitoring seven (7) primary contracts (programs accounts) which provide us with funding via grants, subsidies and investment earnings.

Federally accepted accounting and audit procedures are utilized for all program dollars administered by the Housing Department. All accounts are computerized utilizing state of the art accounting software. Modem hookups with the Tribal Finance Department allow program managers instant access and review of expenditures as well as the balance on all accounts, for all program areas, on a real-time basis.

With close to 360 units in the inventory, we are able to provide a wide range of options for those in need of housing here on the Menominee Indian Reservation. We also offer a wide array of related housing services. Over the past few years, we feel we have been able to structure the Housing Department into a "one stop " shop for all your housing needs. Stop by and see us today!
