Public Notice - Public Information Meeting for the STH 55 and CTH M Intersection Reconstruction Project, Menominee County

Dear Stakeholder: On behalf of the Menominee County Highway Department, we invite you to attend a public information meeting for the intersection reconstruction project of State Highway 55 and County M. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Menominee Casino & Resort located at N277 WIS 47, Keshena, Wisconsin. The meeting will be conducted as an informal open-house format, with a brief presentation starting at 6 p.m. Stop-by anytime. The Menominee County Highway Department with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing an intersection realignment and reconstruction for the State Highway 55 and County M intersection. The project is located north of Keshena in Section 18, T29N, R16E, Menominee County Wisconsin. The project, which is being designed by Jewell Associates Engineers, Inc., will convert the “Y” intersection into a modern “T” intersection with turning tapers and a left turn lane on State Highway 55. The project will improve intersection safety, sight distances, substandard horizontal and vertical curves, and address pavement distresses. Additional improvements include ditching, grading, culvert placement, and curb and gutter placement for enhanced surface water drainage. The project is scheduled for 2027 construction. The intersection will remain open during the project utilizing staged construction with single lane closures and temporary traffic signals. Drivers should expect minor delays when passing this area during construction. Access to properties within the project limits will be maintained throughout construction. A comment form is included with this letter. Persons with concerns regarding the project, or knowledge about historic buildings and structures and archaeological sites are encouraged to provide comments to Jewell Associates Engineers, Inc. by returning the comment form no later than July 18, 2025.
