Historic Preservation’s Oral History Project

The Menominee Historic Preservation Department is reviving its Oral History Project, inviting tribal elders to record their stories to preserve culture, build pride, and strengthen family connections to ancestors. The department originally conducted elder interviews in 1993 and 1994. Today, these recorded reflections offer a powerful and deeply emotional experience for grandchildren and family members. Held during the Menominee Contest Pow-Wow, the department will host a full day of interviews for elders wishing to participate. Event & Interview Schedule • Date: Saturday, August 1st • Time: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM • Location: Menominee Tribal Museum • Last Interview: 3:00 PM To participate in the Oral History project or learn more about the initiative, contact the Menominee Historic Preservation Department at 715-799-5258.
