Lending & Tribal Taxes
To effectively and prudently manage the four loan programs of the Menominee Tribe.
(1) The Menominee Loan Fund which provides a means for eligible applicants to obtain financing for personal items and purposes.
(2) The Revolving Loan Fund which provides a means for eligible applicants to obtain financing for business purposes.
(3) The HUD/CDBG (Home Improvement Loan) which provides a means for eligible applicants to obtain financing for repairs and renovations to the home they own.
(4) The Housing Down payment Loan Fund which provides a means for eligible applicants to obtain financing for the down payment required with the purchase of a single family residence.

The Menominee Department of Lending and Tribal Taxes is responsible for loaning money to eligible enrolled Menominee’s. To be eligible for a loan you must be 18 years or older, an enrolled Menominee and must be in good standing with the Menominee Department of Lending and Tribal Taxes and not listed on the MITW Bad Debtor’s list. If you haven’t been working for 12 months regular-full time for one of the following:
Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, Menominee Casino Resort, Menominee Tribal Enterprise, Menominee School District, Menominee County, or College of Menominee Nation, you will need a co-signer. The co-signer would need to be working at one of the before mentioned and must be in good standing with our loan programs.

Loan Types
Personal Loans:
If you fit the criteria, to establish credit with us, your first loan you will be eligible for is $500.00 or less. If you have already established credit with us you may be eligible for a loan up to $2,500.00. All loans for $2,500.00 or less, applications must be submitted to our office by 12:00 PM on Wednesday. All approved personal loans will then be processed on Friday. Any loans denied may be appealed to the Loan Fund Committee. Stop in or call to talk to a loan officer to see what you may be eligible for.
Home Repair, Home Down Payment or Business Loans:
If you have already established credit with the Menominee Department of Lending and Tribal Taxes for at least 6 months after your initial loan you may apply to our Loan Fund Committee which meets once a month. To be eligible for anything over $2,500.00 you would need to have that application with the appropriate documentation in by the first Monday of the month with the meeting on the following Monday. You as the borrower would need to call us Tuesday following the meeting to set up an appointment to pick up your loan if approved. Home Repair loans are limited to a maximum of $10,000.00, and the Down payment loans are limited to $7,500.00. Apply in person for the Home Repair, Home Down payment and Business loans.
Emergency Fuel Fund Loans:
With established credit, eligible applicants may apply for a loan during the heating season from October 1st to March 31st. Maximum amount of loan is $1000.00 and is limited to one per heating season and one per household. Proof of residency may be required. Loans are available based upon funding. Applications must be submitted to our office by 12:00 PM on Wednesday. All approved loans will then be processed on Friday. Apply in person for the Fuel Fund loan.

Free Tax Preparation
One-on-one Tax Return Preparation Services (VITA/TCE)
Each year, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs offer free, face to face tax help to people with low-to-moderate income. IRS-tax law certified volunteers provide this free service with electronic filing to all people who qualify. All you have to do is bring your documentation, and we'll do the rest.

What to Bring
Proof of identification (photo ID).
Social Security cards or Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN) for you, your spouse, and/or dependents.
Proof of foreign status, if applying for an ITIN.
Birth dates for all on the tax return.
For married filing joint, both spouses must be present.
All forms W2, W-2, 1099, and 1098.
A copy of last year's federal and state returns.
Proof of bank account and routing information if choosing direct deposit of refund (e.g. voided check).
Total paid to daycare provider and their tax ID.
Health insurance exemption certificate, if received.
All Forms 1095 Health Insurance statements.
